Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)

The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) in Canada is designed to attract more overseas skilled immigrants and international students who have graduated to the eastern Atlantic provinces. The program originally started as a pilot project called the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program in 2017. Due to its popularity and success, the immigration authorities officially made it a permanent program on March 6, 2022, and began accepting new applications. Data shows that an increasing number of Canadian newcomers are choosing to settle in the warm Atlantic region.

Program Advantages:

  • Wide range of career options with no specific list of in-demand occupations.
  • Fast processing times, with the possibility of obtaining permanent residency within as little as 1 year.
  • Immigrants under the AIP can access various Canadian social benefits, such as healthcare and educational resources.
  • The Atlantic provinces offer a healthy natural environment with clean air and beautiful landscapes, along with friendly community environments.

Application Requirements:

  • Low language proficiency requirements:
    • NOC Teer 4 and 5 occupations require CLB/NCLC 4.
    • NOC Teer 0, 1, 2, and 3 occupations require CLB/NCLC 5.
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience within the past 5 years is required. International graduates from recognized higher education institutions in the Atlantic provinces may be exempt from this work experience requirement.
